Indigo had the opportunity to work with "Big Blue and You" and participate in the 4th annual "Art by the Sea" festival. This event benefits children and families by educating them in marine conservation and recycling through the arts and other outdoor activities. We were able to get over 20 participants out on the water. We even had some fish and stingrays stopped by to say hello.
At the Indigo tent we had a standup paddleboard in it's foam state for the kids to go ahead and paint. Seeing them have so much fun really warmed the heart. The finished product will be donated to "Big Blue and You". Over the past three years, Art by the Sea has become The Big Blue and You’s signature family event. Offering tons of fun in the sun and different events, adhering to no strict schedule.
The free annual event is designed to reach kids with mediums such as water color banners, miniature fish made from recycled water bottles, life-sized coral sculptures, bottle cap murals and a giant plastic bag net installation. All of the aforementioned is used to inspire youth to spread their message about the importance of the environment and the ocean.
A beach clean-up will also take place and those participating are taught the dangers of pollutions, how trash enters the ocean and the benefits of recycling. To get more information about this event visit thebigblueandyou.org.
